Eidil Fitri, Merdeka Wishes and the President’s Cup

31 08 2011

Firstly, on behalf of the Central Executive Committee and the Federation, we would like to wish a Selamat Hari Raya Eidil Fitri to all Muslim Baseball players, coaches, managers and fans. Please do forgive us for any wrong-doings, statements that might have offended anyone or parties. For all the non-Muslims, have a great holiday, hope that you all have quality time with your loved ones.

For those of you who has been following our progress diligently, especially in regards to the new Central Executive Committee’s Key Performance Index (KPI), as you’ve witnessed, we are striving very very hard to develop the Baseball sport in Malaysia, not just for the National Team Development, but also at grass-root levels. Many measures and steps has been taken to re-align the overall objectives, targets and missions, towards a greater national baseball agenda, which will ensure continued development and growth of the Baseball sport. These includes penetrating the Universities with the successful Raja Muda Perlis Cup in May 2011, and the MSN-BFA-BFM National Coaching Clinic in June 2011. Other up-coming events are the National Scoring Clinic (scheduled in October 2011) and the MSN-IBAF-BFM National Umpiring & Certification Course (scheduled in December 2011).

We also would like to wish all Malaysians a Happy Merdeka Day. This Merdeka will mark the start of Malaysian Baseball’s glory in achieving international recognition and fame.

The President’s Cup, which was earlier postponed, is now fixed for the 8 – 11 September 2011, scheduled to be held at the Padang Utara, Astaka, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. 6 teams are expected to participate in the National Championship. This tournament would also be the avenue of selection for the National Baseball Team (a.k.a. MBS – Malaysian Baseball Squad). Throughout the Tournament, members from the National Team Selection Committee (Headed by National Sports Institute of Malaysia’s Director General YBhg Datuk Ramlan Abdul Aziz) shall observe and evaluate all player’s performances, upon which a 30-men Roster shall be shortlisted to attend the Phase 1 of the MBS Centralized Training Camp, en route to SEA Games 2011 in Jakarta/Palembang.

Despite Malaysia’s participation in previous SEA Games with Baseball events (2005 Manila and 2007 Korat Thailand), this time round, BFM has taken the correct measures by making the MBS (which was formally formed in 2009 to represent Malaysia in the 8th Asian Baseball Cup in Bangkok, Thailand) as its foundation. Players will undergo a comprehensive technical, fundamental, physiological and psychological training, that would generate highly skilled and trained players, armed with solid attitude, aptitude, values and culture. Spearheaded by a strong and professional Management Team, the MBS is set to climb the IBAF’s Mens World Ranking in the near future.

We thank you for all your support shown thus far, and hope for it to continue for many years to come.

Let’s Play Ball..

Regards
